Author:

John Grisham

Story:

Review:

‘The Accused’ is the best book in this series. The second book was not very good. It was actually quite boring and the story dragged. The first book was very good and this one is better than the rest. John Grisham, doesn’t drag the story for some 400 pages. He finishes the book in less than 300 pages. The story is engaging with a very predictable ending. Grisham, makes the law easy to understand for the readers. Theodore Boone, has developed in this book. Though the end, was predictable and the part where Ike assumes that the culprit might be the child of one of hus mothers clients, was also predictable.

Final Verdict:

The book was enjoyable and finished it in 5 days.. 7.5/10

Crank

Author:

Ellen Hopkins

Story:

Kristina Georgia Snow is the perfect daughter: gifted high school junior, quiet, never any trouble. But on a trip to visit her absentee father, Kristina disappears and Bree takes her place. Bree is the exact opposite of Kristina — she’s fearless. Through a boy, Bree meets the monster: crank. And what begins as a wild, ecstatic ride turns into a struggle through hell for her mind, her soul — her life.

Review:

It’s a dark tale of drugs and stuff of that sort. It’s an interesting read. The book, as the name suggests, is about Crank (Crystal Meth). It is, much like the drug, addictive. Once you start reading the first page, the book consumes you and forces you to continue reading it.
Ellen Hopkins, is truly a gifted author/poet. She has written the whole book in free verse. I usually don’t like poems. There are only a few which are interesting like Nizim Ezekiel’s The Patriot, William Blakes Tyger Tyger. Very rarely I find poems appealing. And believe me when I say this, that though the book is in free verse it’s very good.
She has based this book on her daughters life, who was addicted to Crystal Meth.
The book would not have worked without the poems. It lends an air or enigma to it and make it all the more interesting.

This book follows the boutique firm of Finley & Figg, which comprises of  Oscar Finely and Wally Figg Partners in the firm. They try to take down Varricks lab for a drug called Krayoxx which apparently lowers cholesterol but also kills people. David Zinc, a big time lawyer from a big firm Rogan Rothberg. He has a panic attack and quits his firm. He goes to a bar has a lot to drink and finds himself at Finley & Figg. He now beomes their associate lawyer and helps them with their case.

The book was good, a classic John Grisham. A good comeback after his previous failures. 6/10.  The book was funny and it deals with Street Law.
