Tron: Uprising Season 1 Episode 1 “The Renegade Part-1”

Story:

As Tron trains Beck, Beck begins to doubt the skills he is learning will be enough to prevail against Clu. While trying to evade security, Beck lands in a prison transport and is taken to the games. Meanwhile Zed falls for a female that wants to do nothing but steal anything that’s rare.

Review:

The episode starts of to a great light cycle chase between Tron and Beck through some alpine region. The mentor-protege relationship between Tron and Beck is very interesting. And sadly this would be the last time we see Tron for the remainder of the episode.

After this scene, the story progresses where Beck while running away from  a recognizer, hides in a transport full of prisoners. He is then lunged into the colosseum, where he and the other prisoners have to fight to survive. After the battle is over only Beck and Cutler survive. The new character, Cutler, voiced by Lance Riddick is an interesting one, as he has come to Argon to find the Renegade to join him in battle against CLU. He previously fought in the Iso war.

Besides the main Beck-storyline, Beck’s other mechanic friends go to a bar. Where Zed meets a girl who clearly has ulterior motives. He then takes her to his work place. There she convinces him to take her to his boss’ office and there she steal the very rare old light cycle Rencon 786. Later Beck and Cutler escape and then by the stupidity of Paige, they are plunged into yet another Colosseum battle. Where they outwit them.

The problems in this episode is that, we don’t get to see Tron nor the main antagonists. Apart from that, it was an awesome action packed episode. I can’t wait for the second part next week.
